The R. S. Book Club met again! We discussed the book Girl With a Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier. While reading this book I learned some interesting things about seventeenth century Dutch painting and customs. It is said that Vermeer's portrait, Girl With a Pearl Earring, is called the "Dutch Mona Lisa." We talked about the role of women and the choices Griet, the main character, had to make in order to survive. The author blended fiction and history to create a well-written, interesting story which I highly recommend. I rate this book 4 stars. Our May book will be The Memory Keeper's Daughter.
